Draft / Under researchWhy the same vehicle model can differ by country
Trim names, plants, regulations and suppliers can all change what is inside a car sold under the same name.
Same name, different car
Manufacturers adapt vehicles to local regulations, climate, taste and supply chains. A model sold in the UK may have different trims, optional packages and even a different assembly plant than the same-named model in the USA, Canada or Australia.
What can change
- Trim names and what each includes.
- Optional packages (winter, comfort, sport).
- Upholstery fabrics and suppliers.
- Steering wheel and shifter finishes.
What to do about it
Treat any evidence as specific to the market, model year and trim it describes. This is why every product record on this site carries a country and variant, and why the country selector exists.
What we know
- Specifications vary by market.
What remains unclear
- How often a given manufacturer changes interior materials mid-year.
