The questions
- What are the seat covering materials for this exact trim and model year in my country?
- What covers the steering wheel and gear selector?
- What are the door cards, armrests and dashboard coverings made from?
- Is there any wool or wool-blend in the upholstery, carpets or headlining?
- Do optional packages change any of these materials?
- Are any animal-derived adhesives, coatings or lubricants used that you are aware of?
- Does any part of the interior contain leather fibre, including bonded or reconstituted leather?
- Is your “vegan” or “leather-free” description a statement about the whole interior or particular parts?
- Can you confirm these answers in writing, with the date?
- Which items are you unable to confirm, and why?
Reading the answers
Look for precise language that names components. Be careful with answers that only restate marketing copy. If a customer-service agent says “I will check with the product team”, ask for the reply by email and keep the thread.
Record keeping
Keep the date, the name or reference of the responder, the model, trim and country. If you are willing to share it with the community, use the “Submit manufacturer evidence” form; we will treat it as submitted evidence until we can check it.
What we know
- Specific questions about components produce more useful answers than general ones.
What remains unclear
- Response quality varies widely between manufacturers and over time.
